The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that it made this decision to reduce the burden of purchasing a terminal, and that to check the price, you can access Smart Choice and click on the ‘Smart Life’ and ‘Used Phone Price Inquiry’ menus in that order.
Accordingly, it is expected that consumers who wish to purchase used phones in the future will be able to first check the approximate sales price of used phones through the ‘Used Phone Price Inquiry Service’ before purchasing a used phone.
The market price inquiry service provides information on the selling price of each used phone model and the average price by grade for each model, and is updated twice a month, on the second and fourth Monday, reflecting the selling price of each company.
The price information provided reflects the selling prices of used phone companies that have agreed to provide information, and companies that wish to participate in providing price information can apply through the Smart Choice website.
An official from the Ministry of Science and ICT said, “Because market prices for used phones vary widely, it is difficult to estimate the general price level, so users have had difficulties making purchases. We believe this service will reduce users’ search costs and contribute to activating transactions.” He said.
