While driving, there are instances where traffic laws are violated.
In this case, you will receive penalty points.
The number of demerit points varies depending on the severity of the violation, and if 40 demerit points accumulate, your license will be suspended.
Today, I will tell you about two ways to check and reduce your penalty points.
1. How to check driver’s license penalty points
1. Search for “National Police Agency Traffic Civil Service 24” in the Naver search bar and click on the site.
The first screen shown above will appear.
Can you see “I’m not allowed to drive, book an investigation” in the top middle?
Hover your mouse over it. The menus appear sequentially below.
Please click the fourth button from the top, “Driver’s License Penalty Points”.
2. The login screen appears.
Please set it to “Personal User”, enter your name and resident registration number, and then log in with your public certificate.
3. Once you log in, you will see your “Disposal Penalty Points” right away.
Disposal penalty points
○ Penalty points are the penalty points required to apply the suspension standards in the future (based on the time of violation, subject to change depending on whether penalty points are deducted or added), and if the penalty points are 40 or more, your driver’s license will be suspended.
○ If your driver’s license penalty points are less than 40, you can receive a reduction of 20 penalty points by completing ‘penalty point reduction training’ at the Road Traffic Authority. (However, those who received a reduction in penalty points through the same training within the past year are excluded)
License penalty points
○ Penalty points are points allocated for violation of laws or causing accidents according to the severity of the violation, degree of damage, etc., and all penalty points for the past three years are calculated based on the date of the violation or accident for which the administrative disposition standards are to be applied. It is managed cumulatively. (Refer to Appendix 28 of the Road Traffic Act Enforcement Rules)
○ If your cumulative score exceeds 121 points for 1 year, 201 points for 2 years, or 271 points for 3 years, your driver’s license will be revoked.
○ If you have any questions about the details, please contact the police complaint call center ☎ 182 or the traffic complaint office of the nearest police station.
2. How to reduce penalty points – (1) Good driving mileage 10 points
1. This is the homepage’s first screen.
Do you see the ‘good driving mileage’? Please press.
2. It is a system called Good Driving Mileage. You can apply.
You do not need to receive training; you just need to apply in advance.
This is a system implemented by the National Police Agency. If you maintain no violations and no accidents for one year from the date of application, you will be given 10 points.
However, if there is a violation or accident on the same day as the pledge date, the pledge will be processed free of charge.
● No violation:
Due to an act committed during the pledge period, the driver’s license will not be canceled or suspended under Article 93 of the Road Traffic Act, or other punishments under Article 156, or fines under Article 160, Paragraphs 2 and 3 shall not be imposed.
● No Accident:
Do not cause traffic accidents that cause death or injury to anyone during the pledge period.
○ No violation for 1 year after pledge – If there are no accidents, the next pledge is automatically renewed.
○ However, considering the electronic registration period for violations and accidents, ‘automatic renewal’ and pledge ‘success’ are confirmed after 7 days.
How to use good driving mileage points
– If you have good driving mileage points, please attend the police station and apply for point deduction when raising an objection to your license suspension.
If there is no application for self-exemption, the suspension will be decided as is.
If you have more than 40 penalty points, your driver’s license will be suspended. If you use this system, if 10 points are deducted from your mileage and your penalty points reach 30, you will avoid license suspension. If you are a driver, it is a good idea to apply for ‘Good Driving Mileage’ in advance and accumulate mileage.
3. How to reduce penalty points – (2) Completion of penalty point reduction training 20 points
