Due to the enforcement regulations of the Passenger Transport Business Act revised on April 3, 2020, the requirements for acquiring a private taxi license have been relaxed. Accordingly, a certain period of accident-free driving experience and traffic safety training conducted by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority are required.

Training application requirements
A person with more than 1 year (365 days) of general taxi driving experience in the past 3 years as of the date of application for private taxi transfer training.
A person who holds a taxi driving qualification among the driving duties in the passenger transport business pursuant to Article 24 of the Passenger Transport Business Act.
A person with more than 5 years of accident-free driving experience from the (scheduled) date of application for personal taxi license transfer/acquisition approval.
Since the recognition period for accident-free driving history varies depending on the local government, it is necessary to inquire with the competent government office in advance. If you have an accident history before the date of application for training, be sure to check in advance before applying for training.
(Reference) A person who has not received a fine for negligence under Article 94 (3) of the Act more than three times in the past three years, calculated from the date of application for disqualification training for transferring a taxi license, for violating the requirements for transport workers under Article 26 of the Act The cumulative score calculated from the date of application for training and calculated according to the driver’s license administrative disposition standards in accordance with the Enforcement Rules of the Road Traffic Act over the past three years must be 180 points or less.
Education target
A person who intends to inherit a private taxi transportation business license and directly succeed to the business in accordance with Article 19, Paragraph 3 of the “Enforcement Rules of the Passenger Transport Business Act” (hereinafter referred to as “Enforcement Rules”) within 3 years from the date of completion of training.
A person who wishes to transfer a private taxi transportation business license pursuant to Article 19, Paragraph 9 of the Enforcement Rules within 3 years from the date of completion of training.
A person who intends to become a designated driver for a private taxi transportation business in accordance with Paragraph 3 of Article 21 of the Enforcement Rules within 3 years from the date of completion of training.
