Even if the product is manufactured and sold domestically or imported and sold overseas, the product must be certified by a safety certification agency if it is distributed and sold domestically. KC certification is a compulsory certification system designated by the government to prevent consumer safety accidents caused by fire, electric shock, electromagnetic waves, etc.

There are two major types of KC certification. Certification systems that were separate in the past have been integrated into one.
Safety certification is based on the Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Management Act. Companies seeking certification receive certification from an electrical safety certification agency by submitting product manuals, specifications, electrical circuit diagrams, parts lists, certificates for used parts, and test samples. The supervising ministry is the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Electromagnetic wave certification refers to a conformity evaluation system for broadcasting and communication equipment in accordance with the Radio Wave Act. The law forces electrical devices, high-frequency devices, lighting devices, and communication devices to receive electromagnetic wave certification. If there is a risk of affecting the radio wave environment and broadcasting communication network, certification is required. The supervising ministry is the Ministry of Science and ICT.
As the underlying laws are different and the supervising organizations are different, even if it is the same KC certification, if each is subject to certification, each process must be completed separately to receive KC certification.

There are various KC certifications, but the two most representative ones are safety certification and electromagnetic wave certification.
