“Is it really true that there are two cafes in Songtan that are open 24 hours a day?”

I heard there are two 24-hour cafes near Songtan Branch Office in Seojeong-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. One was Tom&Toms Songtan branch, and the other was Caffe Bene Songtan branch. When I looked it up on the map, the two were practically next to each other. If two places are next to each other, there is a very high probability that they will be silent. Of course, I’ve never been to the Songtan branch office, but no matter how much I thought about it, I didn’t think there would be two 24-hour cafes in Songtan, or even a downtown area with two 24-hour cafes next to each other.

I went here and called everyone because it would have been a disaster if it wasn’t a 24-hour cafe. However, strangely, Caffe Bene Songtan Branch could not be reached by phone.

“Oh, I don’t know! One thing is certain, so if you can’t decide, just hold on until the first car opens.”

Since I was sure about one place, I went to Songtan Station. Looking at the map, I went to where the Songtan branch office was. I don’t know what the Songtan branch office is, but I went there anyway.

“What? These two are completely stuck together!”

Tom&Toms Songtan branch and Caffe Bene Songtan branch were closely connected. I approached the front of Cafe Bene Songtan Branch, which I couldn’t confirm was open 24 hours a day.

Caffe Bene Songtan Branch

“Is this really a 24-hour cafe?”

I was really fortunate. It wasn’t clear yet, but since the two were close, if the Cafe Bene Songtan branch was closed when I left the Tom & Toms Songtan branch later, I could just go back to the Tom & Toms Songtan branch.

3:02 AM. I left the cafe. Now it was time to visit Caffe Bene Songtan Branch.

‘Isn’t it really closed?’

It was unfortunate. It was open and operating. I felt relieved. So, I decided to walk along Songtan Special Tourist Zone in Pyeongtaek and solve the mystery of why there are two 24-hour cafes here.

Songtan, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do

“Why are you here?”

It was truly a mystery, a secret of the 5,000-year history of the Korean people. There were really no people on the streets. In a place like this where there are two 24-hour cafes next to each other, you are sure to see some drunk people and a lot of cars, but the streets were surprisingly clean. There were no people or trash.

I visited 80 cafes 24 hours a day and wandered around the metropolitan area. But this was my first time in a place like this. It was a moment when the stereotypes created through my experience were broken.

Strangely, it wasn’t that there were no people at all. People who looked to be from high school to early college were walking around the streets from time to time. When I saw them walking around like this, it was similar to Uijeongbu at 3 in the morning. Even in Uijeongbu, there are not many people in the downtown area around 3 am. In Uijeongbu, it’s around 12 o’clock and people who want to play more go out to places like Nowon or Suyu. So the number of people walking around on the streets was almost the same as in Uijeongbu.

First, I decided to go to a place called ‘Songtan Branch Office’. I was curious as to why they built a branch office in Songtan and called it a Songtan branch office.

There was a sculpture in the Songtan Special Tourist Zone that seemed to resemble a flower bud.

To be precise, Songtan Branch Office was ‘Pyeongtaek City Hall Songtan Branch Office’.

Songtan nightlife

This is the night view of Songtan Seojeong-dong seen in front of Pyeongtaek City Hall Songtan Branch Office. It looks like a downtown in the photo, but in reality, it felt like a small downtown in a tourist area. And it was very quiet. It wasn’t quiet because it was 3 in the morning. It was quiet here even when I arrived here at 0:30 earlier.

Now I went into the alley instead of the main road.

It looks like business is over?

From time to time, kids who appeared to be high school or college students were walking around.

Why on earth is there a 24-hour cafe here?

It reminded me of when I was in Malta. When I was in Malta in 2009, all the clubs in Malta had to close at 3am. At 3 a.m., people would leave the club, disperse and go home. Sometimes, there were places that were closed and operated in secret. What is it? First of all, it seemed like business here was almost completely over.

Would it be a little different on the weekend? But then, it would only be open 24 hours on weekends. In fact, it was written on the door that Holly’s Coffee in the special tourist zone was open that way. In any case, it is clear that they operate 24 hours a day because there is demand at night, so they can extract labor costs and various utility bills.

There were a few stores with lights on. There was about one table of customers in this store.

What’s on the other side?

This time, I decided to go around the other side of the street where Cafe Bene is. I went back to the special tourist zone road to cross the main road.

Songtan street stall

The street stall was still operating.

I crossed the street and went to the back of Caffe Bene Songtan Branch.

There’s nothing here?

Why are taxis lined up like that in Itaewon at night when there are not many people on the street? After that, restaurants were open for business 24 hours a day.

I just don’t know.

It was cold. It seemed like no matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t solve this riddle. So, I quietly decided to go to Caffe Bene Songtan Branch.

Caffe Bene Songtan Branch

So, the cafe I went to this time is Cafe Bene Songtan Branch, located near the Songtan Branch of Pyeongtaek City Hall, Seojeong-dong, Songtan, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The address of Caffe Bene Songtan Branch is 32, Special Tourist Zone-ro, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. The address is 847-2, Seojeong-dong, Gyeonggi-do.

Because it was winter, the cafe had Christmas lights installed.

I went into the cafe.

Caffe Bene

What is here?

I was surprised as soon as I walked in.

Caffe Bene Songtan Branch Office, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do

The store was quite spacious. And there were lots of seats. There were so many seats that it felt cramped.

Since it is located in Songtan, I thought it would be a very strict place even if it were open 24 hours a day. It was a wonderful thing. In addition, the interior design showed a lot of care, and the store was clean. Gonari was doing well.

Pyeongtaek Cafe Bene

It felt like the seats were close together, but the atmosphere itself was pretty good.

In addition, when I looked at the checkout counter, there was a smartphone charger in the left corner. There were many outlets. It was nice to stay for a long time and read books and write on the laptop.

Songtan Cafe

There will be many cafes in Songtan. This is actually my first time visiting a cafe in Songtan, so I don’t know much about cafes in Songtan. But I really liked it here.

What was even more surprising was that people kept coming into Caffe Bene Songtan branch from time to time. Even though it’s 4 in the morning! I was surprised. It seemed like there were more people in the cafe than on the street. Where are these people coming to the cafe at this late hour? At this level, business was pretty good. Except for Itaewon, 4 a.m. is a time when you almost have to fly away.

There was a smoking room inside the cafe.

For your information, smoking was also prohibited on the terrace. Even if I sat on the terrace, I was told to go to the smoking room and light a cigarette.

This is what the inside of the smoking room looks like.
