hello. This is Emotion Mut, which introduces various information related to technology. Today, I will introduce you to how to factory reset your Galaxy, which you can do when you switch to a new device or encounter problems due to an error. In particular, we will summarize both general reset and factory reset.

There are times when you need to change your mobile device or transfer/dispose of the existing one. Since the price of a smartphone is hundreds of thousands of won if it is cheap, and well over a million won if it is expensive, it would be much more reasonable to sell it rather than just leave it alone.

The most important thing at this time is to reset. However, there are some things to worry about when selling or transferring it to someone you don’t know well. I’m worried about what to do if someone else restores the data and my personal information or important data is leaked. So today, safely, so that no one else can restore it. I will try to reset it so that it will be difficult to save even with forensics.

First, there are two ways to reset the Galaxy. Reset through the Settings app. And then perform a factory reset through recovery mode. To conclude, if you do both forensics, deleted data can be restored. What is important is not the reset method, but how many times you reset it. This is because if you repeatedly reset, the files will be shredded to the point where restoration is impossible.

Now let’s get straight to it. First, we will start with how to reset the regular version of the Galaxy. Go into the Settings app and log out. Account logout may be automatically logged out upon reset depending on the version, but we recommend logging out and resetting just in case.

Next, scroll to the bottom of the Settings app and go to General > Reset. This method is less stable than factory mode, but don’t worry, if you repeat the reset several times (about 3 times), the files will be torn in such a way that they can never be restored.

Then press Reset entire device.

Please note that there is a mistake many people make. In the case of resetting all settings, network settings, or accessibility settings, it does not erase my data, but only returns the settings to the default. In other words, keep in mind that you must reset the entire device because your data will remain intact.

Lastly, enter your Samsung account password (or smartphone password) and then press the reset button. Please note that even if it is reset, you will have to reset it at least 2 to 3 times before file restoration becomes impossible.

How to factory reset Galaxy
Now, let’s try resetting to factory mode this time. ‘Factory’ i.e. This means a state in which no data remains, just like when the smartphone was first shipped. Of course, as I said at the beginning, it is difficult to say that factory mode is absolutely safe. (Of course, it is more certain than Settings > Reset.) However, if factory mode is repeated twice, it will be completely destroyed.

First, turn off your smartphone. And depending on the device, you will need supplies. The buttons have different shapes, so you can use them according to your model. Please refer to the contents below.

materials
Android OS 10 or lower: No preparation required
Android OS 11 or higher: PC, USB cable connection

How to access recovery mode (with power off)
S7 and below: Power, Home, and Volume + buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds
S10 or later: Power, Bixby, and Volume + buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds
S20 or higher: Power, volume + simultaneously for 5 seconds

Then, you will be connected to recovery mode as shown in the picture. In my case, it was Android 11 version, so I connected it with a cable. (With the PC turned on, just connect the cable and do nothing) Go to the Wipe data/Facetory reset item.

Please note that touch is not possible in factory mode and can be adjusted using the volume buttons.
Volume+: Move up
Volume-: Move down
Power: optional

Then, a window will pop up asking if you want to delete all of your data. Here, press the – button to move down, then tap the power button once to re-run Covery Mode, which allows factory reset of the Galaxy.

Now that you are ready to reset, select Reboot System now. It automatically reboots and resets. I also selected this item, and you can see the reset in the video below. Please note that the reset process is quite fast, so it is recommended to perform this process about two times.

Today, we looked in detail at how to factory reset the Galaxy. Clean deletion is possible without difficulty as long as you have the buttons and supplies I mentioned, so I hope you can use it with confidence. In particular, the more times you repeat it, the more data you cannot save, so let’s do it safely.
