As a state-run financial institution, the Post Office is making efforts to protect the interests of deposit users and reduce dormant deposits. As of 2019, the Post Office’s dormant deposits accrued KRW 74.4 billion (’02.~’13.), with 369. 100 million won has been refunded and 37.5 billion won remains.
Accordingly, the Postal Service is operating the 2019 Dormant Deposit Refund Special Period (August 5, 2019 – September 30, 2019) and is currently conducting a dormant deposit refund campaign via phone or text message depending on the amount in the account holding dormant deposits.
You can check your post office dormant deposit holdings at the financial consumer information portal Fine (http://fine.fss.or.kr), the Dormant Account Integrated Inquiry System (www.sleepmoney.or.kr), or the Account Information Integrated Management Service (www.payinfo). .or.kr), a nearby post office, or on the website (www.epostbank.go.kr). You can visit a nearby post office nationwide by bringing the necessary documents such as the depositor’s ID card, transaction seal or signature, and bankbook. You can find dormant deposits.
