[Seoul Economy TV=Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 19th that the number of households applying for energy cashback for housing exceeded 200,000 households on June 17.

Hot and humid weather this summer is expected, and concerns about an increase in cooling costs due to an increase in electricity rates last month have increased interest in energy saving, and from the second half of the year, the cashback unit price has been raised (30 won/kWh → 30 won to 100 won/kWh). It appears that this is leading to high participation.

It is analyzed that if you sign up for Energy Cashback and reduce your electricity consumption by more than 10%, your electricity bill will actually be lower than last year.

Last summer (July-August), if a household of 4 with an average electricity consumption of 427kWh reduced usage by 10%, the final bill was reduced by KRW 15,080 (KRW 3,900 cashback + KRW 11,180 reduced due to reduced electricity consumption). It is 65,450 won, which is 1,000 won less than last year’s electricity bill of 66,690 won per month.

KEPCO urged customers who have not yet applied to apply with active interest, as customers who apply until August 31 can also receive cashback deductions from their bills retroactively from July.
In June, only online applications can be made, and in July, you can visit a nearby KEPCO office to apply, and the specific application period will be announced separately. /hyoejeans@sedaily.com
